Disease and Obesity

The rates of obesity have increased over the past decade. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in 2015 the incidence of obesity in the USA was approximately 6% higher at 39.6%. Over 70% of adults are considered overweight or obese. Furthermore, an alarming number of people are unaware of their weight status.

Most of us know that obesity increases the risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. However, studies also show that compared to individuals who have a normal weight, those who are obese have an increased risk for other serious diseases:

colon cancer, osteoarthritis, endometrial cancer, chronic pain, gall bladder disease, liver cancer, breast cancer, kidney cancer

cancer of the stomach, cancer of the uterus, cancer kidney, osteoarthritis in the knee,

Obesity is a reversible condition. Awareness is key. Find out what your weight status(BMI) is. If needed, then choose a healthy weight management approach that will bring you a lifetime of benefits.
